Russia: King of the North

The Bible introduces a major player in the end times drama.

The Bible tells us of two major players in the end times story—the king of the North and the king of the South. The king of the North (north of Israel) is identified by the names Gog and Magog, the latter being the son of Japheth (Noah's eldest son). These two are among the Scythians, who were the earliest settlers of Russia, Ukraine, and Crimea. If you were to visit the Kremlin today, you'd see an exhibit celebrating Russia's Scythian origins.

In the 11th chapter of Daniel, we are told that, at the time of the end, the king of the North "will enter countries, overflow them, and pass through." This behavior is a precursor to a clash between these two kingdoms in a battle to take the Holy Land. What we are seeing today are moves God is making as we progress toward the day of redemption. As you pray over this conflict, ask that God's will be done in the lives of those on both sides.
